3° Oman Desert Marathon. After race relax: sea and warm springs
After the finish of the race the runners jumped in the Arabian Sea in their running gear, it was quite an unusual scene to see all this desert runners perfectly equipped swimming and playing in the water. All afternoon was spent relaxing and enjoying the beach, the day finished with a barbecue on the beach, just next to the shore, with grilled fish and meat, fresh vegetables, rice, bread and fresh fruits. A good dinner before last night sleeping in a tent.
The next day started with another swim in the Arabic Sea at the sunrise. The water was warm and the air temperature mild. Today there are no stages to run, no dunes to climb no more sand to face. If the first days of the race the idea of running 165 km on the sand seemed to be a gigantic challenge, a scary dream, now it has become an achievement for most runners. Something to be proud of and an unique collection of memories and moments that will always be in the hearts of the Oman Desert Marathon Finishers. At 8 Am the camp was dismounted and everybody headed to Wadi Bani Khalid: a paradise in the desert with unique rocks, crystal clear blue pools and beautiful water falls in the wadi.
After the thermal bath all runners had been transferred to the Base Camp for some rest before dinner and the prize giving ceremony.
